Many children aren’t raised to enjoy fresh vegetables
As children grow up eating pizza, hamburgers, and other processed foods, they may never learn to enjoy fresh vegetables, even when they are provided. This creates an additional problem for food pantries and other services, because even when the food is distributed to the needy, they may not eat it.
Solution: New program exposes children to vegetables in a fun way
The Lewanee County “veggie mobile” gathers fresh produce from nearby farms and transports them to popular locations throughout the community, where kids can be routinely exposed to new foods.
