Overhead costs prohibit some communities from opening a soup kitchen
The majority of students attending Calloway County Schools and Murray Independent Schools are on free or reduced lunches. Hungry students mean there's most likely hungry parents. A local resident would like to open a soup kitchen, but doesn't have the funding to rent a space for operations
Solution: Use an existing restaurant kitchen
The founder is talking to a local restaurant to coordinate use of the kitchen. This allows the small town of Murray to open a soup kitchen from 4-6 pm while the restaurant is closed to customers.
