Not enough donations to meet demand

Over 200,000 East Tennesseans are at risk of hunger, as are one in four children. Second Harvest serves 18 East Tennessee counties and over 168,000 individuals each month, but donations are often not sufficient to meet demand.

Solution: Corporate partner sponsors "Double your Donation Day"

Donations made Monday to Second Harvest Food Bank will be doubled Monday as part of the annual “Double Your Donation Day.”

Knoxville media outlets are teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank on Dec. 15 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the event. All donations will be matched dollar for dollar.

Second Harvest says when doubled, just $1 can provide six meals for the hungry.
